Avalon is a UK based company providing funeral plans. With a 5-star rating on Trust pilot; over 25 years of experience and over 70,000 customers, they are also the fastest growing provider of funeral plans in Europe.
Avalon approached me to help them redesign the UX and UI of ‘LifeLocker’ which is a tool that facilitates the user in creating an autobiographic record or memoir to be shared with loved ones at the time of their passing along with specific wishes for their funeral. The tool was out of date, and while the core essence was good, the user experience was poor and the volume of the content presented to the user was overwhelming. Avalon also wanted LifeLocker to appeal to a younger audience so that they can start capturing their story from a younger age.
Illustrations, icons, a bright colour palette and a gamification solution were used to allow Avalon’s audience to tell their story with LifeLocker. The LifeLocker portal allowed them to capture their memories, create a bucket list and write their life story. From remembering their childhood to planning for the future, LifeLocker allowed them to securely store their life and legacy, keeping their story safe for future generations, or share with friends and family.
